The founder, CEO and president of five-year-old American National Investments has compiled an astonishing series of real estate re-development successes in cities from Seattle to, most recently, San Diego. Champion-Cain, installed this month as president of the Downtown San Diego Partnership, says her goal is building an urban core while preserving the best of its historic character.
Her company put together the House of Blues lease and is a partner with Watt Commercial Properties on the rehab of Fifth and Broadway’s First National Bank Building, as well as downtown’s largest apartment complex, which broke ground in November in Little Italy. Champion-Cain also is the new chair of the city’s Housing Advisory and Appeals Board.
